Section Title

The people of God have a biblical charge to do right, to seek justice, to defend the oppressed, to take up the cause of the fatherless, and to plead the cause of the widow (Isaiah 1:17). The heart-breaking stories being brought to light right now in the national conversation on race should activate a response in us to each of those charges. Racism and white supremacy are antithetical to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Red Sea Church acknowledges that we, a predominantly white congregation, share a role in systemic racism and oppression. We are compelled to respond to the death of George Floyd and many other Black men and women killed in recent weeks. We affirm that his life matters and that Black lives matter because they are created in the image of God, with all the dignity thereof. We are committed to listening, lamenting, repenting, and to praying. We will pray for change, healing, humility, and renewal.
